Heads or Tales

Posted on May 20, 2008

Ok, so I’m faced with a choice, a simple yes or no, in or out.  I flipped a coin, like Gideon, but I didn’t have faith in the outcome of the coin flip.  I am still left trying to decide, in or out, seems simple right?  Why is it that God rarely makes things simple?  I do not know what to choose.  I know I am being very vague, but that is because people don’t need to know what this choice is, at least not right now.  But if I’m in, other things are out, and if I’m out, nothing changes.  This is all about my job for those of you who are dying of curiosity.  I know this job isn’t what I’m suppose to do forever, but is it what I’m suppose to do right now?  I just don’t know, In or out…  Please be praying, and if God tells you in or out, please text me.  I have been praying and still feel uncertain about the matter.  Parts of it I want, and parts I don’t.  And I am content with where I am now, so what to do, what choice is right, how will I determine which choice to make?  Please pray, I don’t want to do something God doesn’t want me to do, and I don’t want to miss out on something God does want me to do.  Tonight I will be praying for an answer a lot…  Please pray also, thank friends!

Mi Amiga

Ok, i think I’ve come up with a new thing that I want to do on my blog. I want to write about my friends and people who really make a difference in my life. I realize most of them will never read it, but I intend to write it anyways. I will try to write about one person a week, but we’ll see how often i actually get around to it…

I shall start with my good friend Patrice Gutierrez. She is a pretty awesome person, she has a compassion that far surpasses most people i know. I am always impressed with how God uses her to make a difference in the lives of others. The way that she prays is moving. When you hear her pray it is evident that she truly cares and has a burden for others. Her heart is truly in what she does. Not to mention that she owns a mac… Pretty good decision if you ask me. But on a more serious note, She is a pretty good friend, she puts other before herself. She really just cares. I don’t think i could do her justice in a blog post… so I’ll leave it at that… oh ya, and Bahahahahaha, and wonderfun, and bag-o-money, oh boy 3am!, cliche… ok, i could probably go on for a while, but i shall end now…

I am not sure who I will write about next, perhaps Richie Lopez, or Natalie Borges, hhmmm… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see

Fuge Article - April

Brandon Harter
Outlook – April

Unity/Compassion

I wanted to pick one of these two topics to write my article on, but I just couldn’t bring myself to pick one, and then it dawned on me that the two go hand in hand.  Without compassion, unity will fail, and without unity, compassion is bound to a individual level.  Of course when saying this I am referring to the ministry aspect of unity and compassion
When bikers pass each other going opposite directions on the road, they hold out their hand to their side, resembling a low five.  While off roading with my brother, Richie, and Modo I realized that every time a dirt biker or another truck passed, they’d always wave to us.  At times the path wasn’t wide enough to safely pass going both directions.  When we would pull over to let people get by, they would hold up fingers and gestures to let us know how many people were in the group so we would know when we could start going again without hitting anyone.
This unity surprised me, I think because it is something I rarely see in churches today.  Our church has far more unity than most.  At SFA and especially in the youth, I see people filling in where others lack.  I’m not saying that some people just don’t do their work, I’m saying that there are circumstances when things come up, that’s just life.  But in these moments I have seen others rise up to help them manage their responsibilities.  Than in my opinion defines compassion.  Caring enough about the ministry and others to carry their burdens.  Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”  This is the kind of unity that Christians as a whole need to have.
We need to unite.  God has called us to do His work, and I feel that when a church is lacking, it is our job to help them through their hard time.  The church of America seems so segregated with so many different denominations believing so many different things.  I think it is about time that Christians believe the Bible, stop disputing, and work together to save the lost.  Where is  the love?  When Jesus comes back, what will He have to say about it?  He is coming back for a church without spot or wrinkle, how long will it be until he finds one of those?
Until the church learns to have compassion and to put differences aside and unite, it will never reach the lost at its full capacity.  We hinder ourselves and limit God.  So I’ll leave you with this thought, has God called you to work with others for Him, or did He send you out alone?
